📢 You can now find UNIFE also on Bluesky 🦋 ! Based on the latest developments on the X platform in terms of content and outreach, UNIFE has decided to suspend its UNIFE, ERTMS and IRIS accounts on the platform from the end of March 2025. As we still see necessary to have a microblogging social media platform we have decided to migrate to Bluesky Social. No platform is perfect, nor it will reach all of our desired audiences, nonetheless it is the closest to the original concept of Twitter. It will take some time to rebuild our followers base but we are optimistic that this change will prove beneficial to our efforts to communicate and engage with our members, the EU and the Members States representatives, the rest of the rail and transport sector, as well as with the media, doing what we are doing best: Promoting the European Rail Supply Industry! UNIFE Director General Enno Wiebe is co-chairing today the 3️⃣rd Global Gateway Railway Working Group for Latin America and Caribbean. We are discussing the opportunities of enhanced coordination of external EU financial tools namely synergies between ECAs export credits and DFIs packages to enhance the competitiveness of EU industries. We are also debriefing on the last EU mission to #Mexico as well as hearing new opportunities on rail projects coming from #Argentina and #Panama. Most importantly, we are discussing the case builder approach concept: a collaborative EU private sector initiative to drive projects in the region and helping EU companies to better position in the region. #GlobalGateway

ERTMS at Railtech🚦 🎤 Today, industry leaders gathered at RailTech Belgium 2025 to discuss the most pressing challenges, burning questions and opportunities in the rail sector. 🚆 Breaking Barriers in Rail: UNIFE’s Perspective 🟢 Today, Enno Wiebe, UNIFE Director General, joined George Gilkinet, Former Belgian Deputy PM & Mobility Minister, and Carole Coune, AERRL Secretary General, to discuss what’s holding rail back from reaching its full potential. UNIFE’s DG highlighted key challenges from the suppliers' perspective, including fragmentation in requirements and project implementation, as well as complexity in technical solutions, regulations, and migration from legacy systems. 🔹 Solutions? Policymakers and industry must: ✅ Address the cost drivers of ETCS with harmonised requirements ✅ Accelerate FRMCS rollout with stronger EU coordination ✅ Ensure reliable national & European financing 🚆 ERTMS Rollout: Accelerating Without Disrupting Operations 🟠At today’s 'Navigating the ERTMS Challenge' panel, Klaus Mindel, UNIFE’s UNISIG General Manager, joined industry leaders to discuss how to accelerate ERTMS deployment while ensuring cost-efficiency and standardisation across Europe. 🔹 Key takeaways from Klaus Mindel: ✅ Suppliers play a dual role – developing solutions that comply with standards while shaping cost-efficient, harmonised requirements. ✅ Standardisation is crucial – reducing national customisation cuts costs and complexity. ✅ Quicker Class B decommissioning will lower ETCS integration costs. ✅ Network-wide ERTMS implementation is more efficient than fragmented small-scale projects. 🚅 A harmonised and well-funded ERTMS rollout is key to Europe’s rail future! 👉 Head here to relive the panel highlights: https://lnkd.in/dfEHdmhA #ERTMS #RailInnovation #UNIFE #Mobility #RailTransport #UNIFE #Mobility #RailTechBelgium25 #ERTMS #FRMCS #FutureRail

Some key takeaways from today's RailTech Belgium '25 UNIFE’s Director General Enno Wiebe during the debate "What's holding rail back from reaching its peak potential": ➡️ We need to bring costs down by driving further harmonisation at EU level and refrain from national and company specific requirements. Priority shall be given to an accelerated ERTMS - European Rail Traffic Management System roll-out, increasing the performance of the system. ➡️ FRMCS is at the top of our agenda and we believe that the sector stakeholders under the umbrella of European Commission, European Union Agency for Railways and Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking can collectively unfold their full potential for making FRMCS a success. ➡️ ERTMS shall facilitate better military mobility - preferably as a dual use approach. During the dabate "Navigating the ERTMS Challenge", UNIFE's UNISIG General Manager Klaus Mindel called for the roll-out of #ETCS and #FRMCS based on sound migration principles and operational harmonisation across the European Union. With ETCS having a positive business case once national systems are decommissioned! #RailTech Belgium '25
